- 1). Scrape any remaining burnt chocolate from the inside of the microwave with a plastic spoon.
- 2). Pour 1 cup of distilled white vinegar into a microwavable bowl. If vinegar is not available, use 1/2 cup of lemon juice mixed in 1 cup of water.
- 3). Place the microwaveable bowl inside the microwave and shut the door. Set the microwave on high and cook the vinegar or lemon juice for five minutes.
- 4). Leave the bowl in the microwave for 10 to 15 minutes after the initial five-minute cooking time.
- 5). Dampen a sponge in vinegar or lemon juice and use it to clean the inside of the microwave. The vinegar or lemon juice will remove the burnt-chocolate odor while loosening any grime from the microwave.
- 6). Rinse the vinegar or lemon juice with a lint-free cloth dampened in water. Wipe the inside of the microwave dry with a clean, lint-free towel. Repeat the process if the burnt-chocolate odor remains.
