- 1). Shut off the water supply valves.
- 2). Remove old shower handle from valve using a Phillips head screwdriver and clean the mounting surfaces with a rag.
- 3). Place the included "flange" over the existing faucet valve with the drain hole at the bottom of the flange.
- 4). Install the included "protective washer" onto the short end of the included "reversible retainer sleeve."
- 5). Screw the retainer sleeve through the flange and onto the threaded valve stem in the wall. Tighten it by hand until the flange is tight against the wall surface.
- 6). Screw the included "stem extender" into the valve stem. This is used to attach the handle.
- 7). Place the handle onto the stem extender in the off position (handle pointed down) and thread the included set screw into the bottom of the handle with the included hex wrench. Tighten the set screw to fasten the handle.
- 8). Remove the old shower head and arm by unscrewing by hand or with a pipe wrench.
- 9). Apply plumber's pipe joint compound to the threads of the included "shower arm" and insert the long end through the included "shower flange" and into the pipe elbow inside the wall.
- 10
Turn the shower arm by hand until it is threaded securely and slide the shower flange tight against the wall. - 11
Remove the old bathtub spout by inserting a screwdriver into the mouth of the spout and rotating the entire spout counterclockwise. Some spouts may be attached with an Allen screw underneath. In that case, loosen the Allen screw with an Allen wrench and slide the spout off. - 12
Apply pipe joint compound to a pipe nipple and screw it into the tub spout elbow inside the wall. Tighten it with a pipe wrench. If a pipe nipple is already present, be sure it projects 3 7/8 to 4 inches from the wall. - 13
Screw the tub spout onto the pipe nipple by hand and tighten it until it is flush against the wall pointing downward. Use a screwdriver inserted into the mouth of the spout if it is too difficult to make the final turn by hand. - 14
Turn on the water supply and flush water through the shower arm for several minutes to clear out any debris. - 15
Thread the shower head onto the shower arm and tighten by hand.
