- 1). Restart or start your Mac G4 computer by selecting “Restart” from the Apple menu, or press the “Power” button on your computer.
- 2). Hold down “Command"+"Option"+"O"+"F” while your Mac G4 boots. Hold them down before the startup chime. Open Firmware will load on your Mac.
- 3). Type “mac-boot” to find a loadable operating system on your Mac and press "Return." Open Firmware will automatically load into that OS.
- 4). Type “boot” to load your Mac G4 off another device. Type “ultra0” to load off the Mac’s master drive. Type “cd” to load off of the Mac’s CD/DVD drive. Type “zip” to load off of a Mac G4’s internal Zip drive. Press "Return" on the keyboard to start the command. In order to load off a CD or Zip drive, you have to have a bootable CD or Zip disk in the drive at the time you start the boot command.
