- 1). Place the pipe ends of the PVC and metal pipes together and line them up. This is very important as the pipes must have the same diameter, or a maximum 1/8 inch difference, for a mission coupling to work.
- 2). Attach your mission coupling to the metal pipe by sliding it over the top. Slide it over the pipe until it reaches the approximate half-way point into the coupling. Use your flat-blade screwdriver to tighten the last clamp on the coupling, by turning the tightening screw in a clockwise rotation until it is tight and secure.
- 3). Slide the other end of the mission coupling over the PVC pipe, while butting both pipes together. They must be butted firmly and held like this as you, once again, tighten the last clamp on the coupling, only this time, tighten it on the PVC side. Once tightened down, the coupling will hold itself in place.
- 4). Tighten down all the other band clamps by alternating sides. Tighten the next clamp in line on the metal pipe side, then move to the PVC pipe side and tighten the next one in line there. Continue this until every band clamp has been firmly tightened down. This will make the connection solid and waterproof.
