Company Background
Eco-Me is a natural products company that started out making do-it-yourself cleaning kits and then later launched its pre-mixed cleaners in stores in 2011.
It also makes natural and eco-friendly skin and pet care products. In 2013, the company changed its labels and branding from a line of eco-cleaners named after individuals (e.g., Jack by Eco-Me, Emily be Eco-Me, etc.) to cleaners bearing just the Eco-Me logo and scent.
Very health, safety, community, and environmentally conscious, Eco-Me's products mostly contain common, food-grade ingredients found in your kitchen cupboard, like vinegar and olive oil. Information about its sustainability practices, mission, community involvement, customer incentives, and more is available on its website.
Product Effectiveness
To use this product, the manufacturer suggests soaking really dirty dishes in hot soapy water first. Eco-Me also notes this product is not to be used in automatic dishwashers.
With its all-natural vegan ingredients, I was excited to put this product to the test. It produced suds easily and did a fabulous job at removing stuck-on, food, grease, and grime. I especially liked how it had an extremely subtle, essential oil-based scent and was not at all overpowering like some other dish soaps are. However, if for some reason don't like the scent of lemons, give the "Citrus Berry" or "Herbal Mint" fragrance a try. It's also available in a scent-free version.
Health & Safety
This product is formulated with plant-based, toxin-free ingredients, most of which are food grade. It doesn't contain any petrochemicals, harsh preservatives, synthetic fragrances, animal by-products, artificial colors, or sulfates (e.g., SLS, SLES, ALS).
Per government guidelines, the manufacturer suggests keeping the product out of the reach of children and away from pets. First-aid measures noted on the website include flushing the eyes with water if contact occurs. If swallowed, drinking water and contacting a doctor is recommended.
Environmental Notes
This product uses plant-based ingredients that are environmentally friendly. In addition, its packaging is made with PET#1 BPA-free plastic, which is purchased from recycling centers and does not leach toxins.
Final Thoughts
Due to its economical price, fabulous cleaning results, safe ingredients, and environmental friendliness, I would definitely recommend adding this Eco-Me Dish Soap to your green cleaning routine.
