- 1). Clean the plywood with a damp cloth to remove dust and debris. Allow the surface to dry thoroughly.
- 2). Sand the surface of the plywood with a 220-grit sandpaper. Gently sand the surface of the plywood. Wipe off the dust using a damp cloth. Let it air dry thoroughly.
- 3). Apply a thin coat of exterior wood primer to the plywood using a paint brush. Allow the primer to dry thoroughly. Apply a second coat.
- 4). Paint the plywood with exterior latex paint to prevent checking. Let it dry. Apply a top coat. This will block out excess moisture and prevent plywood checking.
