- 1). Protect yourself with rubber gloves, a face mask and protective glasses before taking on mold and mildew.
- 2). Move the canvas item outside and spray down moldy areas with a garden hose. Dampening the areas before removing the mold will help to keep the mold spores from becoming airborne.
- 3). Brush away the mold with a medium-bristle brush or an old cloth.
- 4). Add a scoop of powdered laundry soap to a bucket of warm water.
- 5). Dip a sponge or cloth into the soapy water and scrub the affected area of the canvas with it.
- 6). Rinse the area with clean water by either pouring water onto it or using your garden hose.
- 7). Allow the canvas to dry in the sunshine.
- 8). Add ¼ cup of chlorine bleach to a gallon of water.
- 9). Dip a sponge or clean cloth into the solution and wipe the affected area to disinfect it. Allow it to air dry for 20 minutes and repeat.

Add a scoop of laundry or dish detergent containing borate to a bucket of warm water. - 11
Sponge the soapy water onto the area and allow it to air dry without rinsing. This will help to prevent mold coming back.
