Kill Sidewalk Moss

• Rid your sidewalk of unsightly moss by sprinkling powdered laundry detergent on the affected areas. Let the powdered detergent sit on the moss for three or four days until it turns a brownish color. Brush the brown moss away with a firm broom and rinse the detergent off the sidewalk with a hose.
  
  

Freshen the Air

• Fill small cloth bags with your favorite scent of powdered laundry detergent to freshen the air. After the bags are filled, tie them closed with string or ribbon and place them in drawers, closets, hampers, cabinets or anywhere else unsavory odors lurk.
  
  

Remove Soap Scum

• Remove soap scum in the tub or shower with powdered laundry detergent. Mix water and laundry detergent in a container and work it into a paste. Use a sponge to massage the paste into the scummy areas using circular motions. Let the paste sit for 10 minutes and rinse it off with warm water.
  
  

Clean the Deck

• Add 1 cup of powdered laundry detergent to a bucket of hot water. Dip a firm, long-handle brush or push broom into the detergent solution and scrub the deck. Rinse the detergent and grime away with a hose.
