- 1). Unroll the tape. Peel away any strip covering the adhesive backing.
- 2). Place one end of the tape roll at the bottom of the handlebar. Position the tape so that it extends beyond the end of the handlebar. This portion of the tape will later be stuffed into the bar and held in place with the included bar plug.
- 3). Wrap the tape toward the bike. When wrapping, the tape will pass over the bar and in the direction of the bike. Taping in this direction allows the tape to maintain a tighter wrap on the bar.
- 4). Wrap the tape gradually up the handlebar, maintaining an even overlap. Overlap the layers so that the adhesive backing touches the handlebar. To keep the wrap tight, pull the end of the tape slightly during layering.
- 5). Raise the rubber brake hood on the end of the handlebar being wrapped.
- 6). Pass the tape in a figure eight formation around the brake hood so that the end of the tape emerges at the top of the handlebar.
- 7). Layer the tape over the flat portion of the handlebar, wrapping over the bar and toward the bike.
- 8). Use scissors to cut the end of the tape diagonally. Leave enough tape to cover the handlebar up to 3 inches from the side of the handlebar stem.
- 9). Wrap the end of the handlebar tape around the handlebar. Wrap black electrical tape around the end of the handlebar tape, and cut the electrical tape with scissors.
- 10
Use the handlebar plug to push the other end of the tape into the hollow at the tip of the handlebar. Push the plug firmly in place. - 11
Use the second roll of handlebar tape and repeat all steps for the other handlebar.
