- 1). Unplug your waffle iron power cord and allow it to cool completely before cleaning. Lift the lid of the waffle iron to speed the cooling time.
- 2). Brush crumbs away from the grooves of the waffle iron with a soft-bristled toothbrush. Ensure you remove crumbs on the upper and lower plates.
- 3). Soak up any puddles of oil inside the grooves with a paper towel. Continue cleaning both sides of the griddle with a damp cloth removing any stuck-on batter.
- 4). Apply a few drops of cooking oil to burnt-on batter and allow it to soak into the batter. Remove with a damp cloth. Clean the outside of the waffle iron with a soft, dry cloth.
