- 1). Turn off power to the wiring or unplug devices that use the wiring.
- 2). Strip about 1 inch of insulation from each end of the wires.
- 3). Place the two stripped ends of the wires together so they are side by side in your hand. Using your fingers, twist the two wires together clockwise.
- 4). Insert the end of the twisted wire into the wire nut. Hold the wiring firmly in one hand while using the other hand to twist the wire nut down onto the wiring in a clockwise direction.
- 5). Plug the wiring or devices that the wiring is attached to back into a power source, then test for operation.
