- 1). Install the masonry blade on the concrete cutter according to manufacturer's instructions for the brand of cutter you are using. Measure the area you need to cut. Snap a chalk line on the concrete for your measurements. Connect the water hose to the saw and tighten the fitting hand-tight. Turn on the hose.
- 2). Set the saw cutting depth for 2 inches, depending on the total thickness of the concrete. For best results, cutting 2 inches deep is the maximum you should go on each pass. Open the choke on the saw and prime it by depressing the gas bulb several times. Push the start button on the cutter.
- 3). Pull the starter cord to start the saw. Starting the saw is similar to starting a lawnmower. Place the saw at the edge of the concrete and make your first cut, following the chalk line. Repeat the process and readjust the cutting depth if necessary, bringing the saw back to the original starting point.
