- 1). Locate the aerator at the end of the faucet spout and notice where they connect. The aerator is a round end that screws onto the faucet spout, and it contains a screen that directs the water downward into the sink.
- 2). Wrap several layers of painter's tape around the aerator to protect the finish from the pliers during its removal. The painter's tape removes easily without leaving glue or residue.
- 3). Grab the aerator between the jaws of a pair of slip-joint pliers and turn it counterclockwise until it is loose enough to remove completely by hand. Ensure that you only grab the aerator and not the end of the spout.
- 4). Disassemble the aerator on the counter and remove the small plastic disc with holes in it. This is the water limiter. Reassemble the other parts of the aerator and reinstall it onto the end of the faucet spout.
