- 1). Remove the door from the hinges by unscrewing the bottom hinge first. Tap the pin from the bottom to release it and pull it up. Repeat on the hinges above it until the door is free. Set the door on a stable surface where you can easily access the crack.
- 2). Unscrew the hinge that is attached to the crack.
- 3). Break off any splinters around the crack. Lightly sand the crack with 100-grit sandpaper to get a smooth surface. Wipe with a tack cloth to remove sanding dust.
- 4). Prepare an epoxy wood filler according to the package instructions. Some epoxies need stirring while others need premixing. Use epoxy wood filler that matches the wood on your door.
- 5). Apply the wood filler to the door using a small putty knife. Layer the filler into the crack until it is filled. Use the putty knife blade to smooth the surface of the wood filler so it is flush with the wood.
- 6). Leave the door to cure according to epoxy instructions. Reassemble and hang the door.
