What to Ask So Interior Painters Don't Color Your World Blue

Finding reputable interior painters may not be as difficult as one may think, but there are some questions to ask so they don't end up coloring your world blue by the time they finish. There are plenty of companies out there to choose between, and many individuals claim to be interior painters as well. The primary difference between a private individual and an incorporated business is insurance. A painting contractor is required by law to be licensed and bonded. This is to protect the contractor and to protect the homeowner. As an example:  a worker slips on the ladder, falls and breaks his leg, and the ladder goes through the window and breaks a valuable piece of art. That incident will be completely covered through the contractors insurance. If something like that were to happen with a private individual, the homeowners insurance company would most likely be in a lawsuit with that individual that caused all the damage to themselves and to the property.

Before researching for a contractor that has a team of interior painters, the homeowner should make a list of what they are wanting done to the inside of the home. Make a note as to which room, or rooms, will need work done in them. Jot down if the ceilings will need to part of the job. If there is a texture or a technique that the homeowner wants done to the walls, provide that information.  Make a note of what colors will be added to the walls. Add into the notes if the trim work, base boards, and doors will need a new coat added to them. Doing this ahead of time will organize the project and give the interior painters a better understanding of the job. It will allow them to give a more accurate quote as well.

There are a few things that a homeowner should ask an interior painting company before hiring them. Ask for a copy of their insurance papers and follow up with the insurance company to confirm that they do in fact have that insurance. Ask for referrals and do a follow up on that list as well. It is not that difficult to acquire fraudulent insurance forms and mislead potential clients about their referrals. This is called taking the initiative to protect the home and those that live in it. A reputable contractor that has a team of interior painters will be very forthcoming with this information and will encourage checking up on them. Finding a reputable home renovation company is a plus as they often work with interior decorators who can offer great suggestions on interior design and decor.

Schedule appointments to have several painting services come out to the home and meet with them.  Sometimes the lowest bid is not necessarily the right choice. As a homeowner, that individual will be able to ascertain if the contractor will be a good fit for the job. Once the interviews are done, the homeowner will be able to sit down and make an informed decision based on the information they got from the contractor and their personal take on the company. Since more often than not the money to complete this project will be coming out of the homeowner's budget, taking precautionary steps will help to ensure that the home remodeling job will be done to their complete satisfaction.
