Things You'll Need
Instructions
1Loosen the three screws found on the end of the replacement connector to remove the end from the connector.
2
Cut the damaged end off the extension cord with a wire cutter. Slide the back of the replacement connector over the cord.
3
Slice through the outer jacket of the extension cord with a utility knife to cut away about 1 inch of the outer jacket. Remove the paper filling material inside.
4
Strip each of the wires inside the cord back 1/2 inch to expose the bare wiring inside. Twist the ends of the stranded wire to prevent fraying.
5
Insert each of the wires into their respective terminals. Black should connect to gold, white should connect to silver, and green should connect to green. Tighten the screws of the terminals. This will hold the wires in place.
6
Align the end of the connector back with the part you slid over the end of the cord. One of the screw holes will have a notch, which matches a tab on one of the screws of the end. This ensures proper matching of the screws to the screw holes.
7
Tighten the screws back into place. Tighten the screws that clamp the connector to the cord. This will ensure the wiring does not get pulled out of the replacement connector.
8
Plug in your cord to test it.
