- 1). Turn the water fountain pump off and unplug it.
- 2). Locate the water fountain pump. Inspect the water level. If the pump is not fully submerged, it draws air into the pump. Noises occur as the air moves through the pump.
- 3). Add water to the fountain base if the water level is too low.
- 4). Adjust the pump's position if necessary. If it is not sitting on its base properly, it can pull air into the pump.
- 5). Set the noisy water fountain pump away from the sides of the fountain. If the pump is vibrating against the side of the basin, it will cause noise.
- 6). Place a thin, spongy material or rubber matting under the pump to minimize the pump's vibrations against the bottom of the basin.
- 7). Dry your hands and plug the pump in. Turn the pump on and off a few times to clear the air out of the tubing and pump.
