Guideline to Improving Your Memory

There are different types of memories that are stored in different parts of the human brain.
Your brain has to sometimes retrieve these memories within milli seconds.
It could be birthday dates, phone numbers, restaurant names or even something as annoying as where the hell did I put the car keys.
Sometimes the failed memories can be border line catastrophic like forgetting your boss had just recently got divorced after asking him how his wife is doing.
Fortunately we don't have to stick with a rusty memory.
There are actual proven and fun ways to improve your memory.
It doesn't matter if your studying for college exams or just trying not to forget a dentist appointment.
There are simple daily things we all can do to improve your memory.
Remember the good old way of writing on the back of your hand to remember something.
while it does dirty the hands the method does actually make perfect sense.
By creating something out of the ordinary, you make a visual reminder for yourself to remember something.
The important thing is to make a strong visual reminder on the back of your hand and what it is reminding you about.
Obviously you don't need to ink up your hand every time you need to remember something.
You could try different techniques.
Such as leaving a sticky note on the front door to remind you to put the garbage out the next morning.
Or leaving jumper on your steering wheel as a reminder to go past the laundromat on your way home.
It simple visual reminders that make all the difference.
Another way to improve your memory is to visualize with association.
This method turns words that you need to remember into visual images that relate to the words.
Say you had a dentist appointment at 3 o'clock.
A good way to visualise this would be to say remember the 3 blind mice.
When you think of the dentist visualise 3 blind mice knocking about in the waiting room.
You definitely wont forget about 3 and you'll have a smile on your face.
When using visualization techniques always try to use something that you can confidently associate with your memory.
Try not to use anything that negatively effects you or is hard to remember.
Generally easy nursery rhymes and colourfully images which are far away from your normal day reality tend to work far better than mundane day to day activity.
It stands out in your memory cause it doesn't fit in with the rest of your day and it's fun! If you need to pick up something from the grocery store and you don't have a shopping list to hand.
Try visualising yourself fishing for the items.
Real in that washing powder, bread, milk and newspaper.
It seems stupid I know.
But it really does work.
It just kicks out the ordinary and brings in something that's wacky and new.
The fishing technique works for me cause I love fishing in my spare time but I sure don't go fishing for groceries.
See how I used a positive in my life to remind me of the mundane shopping list.
Be creative, use your imagination and don't be afraid to be a little wacky.
These are just a few examples on how to improve your memory.
If you use the little tricks daily it will eventually become habit and remembering things will become allot easier.
