- Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express integrates with the Visual Studio Express Editions to facilitate information management applications. It supports Active Directory, Transact SQL, and ADO.NET. SQL Server 2005 Express supports databases of up to 4 GB.
- SQL Server 2005 Express requires a 600 MHz Pentium III or compatible processor, 192 MB of memory and 525 MB of disk space. Microsoft recommends having a 1 GHz processor and 512 MB of RAM. The program also requires Microsoft .NET Framework 2.0 or above and Windows Installer 3.1.
- SQL Server 2005 Express supports Windows 2000 Service Pack 4, Windows Server 2003 Service Pack 1, and Windows XP Service Pack 2. It supports 32-bit and most 64-bit systems. SQL Server is not supported on Itanium 64 systems.
- SQL Server is free and redistributable with other applications. Registration with Microsoft is required for redistribution.
