Carrying on a secret affair usually involves at least some time talking on the phone, but she'll need to keep these calls secret from you. She may be in the habit of keeping her phone calls private anyway, but if she's normally prone to having chats in front of you and switches to taking some calls privately, take note. Just make sure there's no chance she might be planning a surprise party or has some other reason for secret phone use. If you have a landline phone, you might get a lot more "wrong number" calls or callers that ask for her, but don't identify themselves to you. Also watch out for secretive texting; lovers keeping things low often use this more discreet means of communication.

Going out with a fling costs money, so if you're living together and notice certain unusual things happening with the shared bills, those changes in spending habits could be caused by an affair. Watch the phone bills for heavy quantities of calls and texts to an unknown number. With credit and debit card bills or statements, look for things like eating out more often than usual or paying for rooms in local hotels. If she suspects you'll be checking out this bill, though, she may be making larger cash withdrawals than is her normal habit to cover up.

One thing's a given with any cheating; if she's sharing her time with another lover, she's going to have less time to spend with you. Sudden absences and other engagements aren't necessarily a sign of devious goings-on, but they may be worth keeping an eye on. If she doesn't have a cover story for why she's gone or if you notice signs that her alibis don't check out, you may be on to something.

Big changes to her mood and day-to-day behaviors may be a sign of an affair if coupled with other cheating signs. These signs are especially fishy if she doesn't seem interested in including you in these changes. In addition, some of the most telling signs of cheating are the slip-ups that happen when someone is struggling to keep two relationships separate from each other. She may call you by the wrong name, though make sure it's not the name of an ex, or make reference to a conversation or series of events she thinks you were a part of when really it was her other lover.
