- Each HP Pavilion dv2310us had a pre-installed Windows Vista Home Premium operating system. The OS contained an application called Windows Media Center, which customers could use to watch live television as well as play music and videos.
The processor was an AMD Turion 64 TL-52, which had two processing units and a processing speed of 1.6 gigahertz. It also had two memory banks, or caches, that each had 512 kilobytes. Using second-generational Synchronous Dynamic Random Access Memory architecture (DDR2 SDRAM), the Pavilion dv2310us had 1,024 megabytes of memory, which was installed in the computer's two dual in-line memory module (DIMM) slots. - In addition to the Windows Media Center, HP included features to enhance the Pavilion dv2310us as an entertainment-focused notebook PC. Each notebook has an NVIDIA GeForce Go 6150 graphics card, which supports the 14.1-inch high-definition widescreen display with HP's BrightView LCD technology and up to 1,280-by-800 pixels in resolution.
Also included are a pair of built-in Altec Lansing stereo speakers, built-in web camera and microphone, and a Super Multi CD/DVD burner with double-layer disc support and LightScribe technology. The LightScribe Feature involves using lasers to etch labels on compact discs. - The data storage of the HP Pavilion dv2310us was modest at best: a 160-GB hard drive with a rotational speed of 5,400 revolutions per minute. In terms of wireless connectivity, however, the notebook PC has Bluetooth, a technology that initially existed to phase out RS-232 data cables, but now is synonymous for short-distance data communication between a variety of electronic devices. Additionally, its wireless local area network adheres to the 802.11 b and g standards of the Institute of Electrical and Electronics Engineers Association. Also included are a 56-kilobit-per-second modem and a 100-megabit-per-second Ethernet networking card.
- Each HP Pavilion dv2310us notebook has an HP Imprint Finish, which is HP's brand of high-gloss coating for its computers. The notebook PC measures 13.15 inches in length, 9.33 inches in width and 1.02 to 1.54 inches in height from front to back, with a weight of 5.4 lbs. On the computer were external interfaces such as three USB 2.0 ports; RJ-11 and RJ-45 jacks for the modem and Ethernet; S-Video output; external monitor and infrared ports; and microphone, headphone and Sony Philips Digital Interface jacks. Included in the packaging box were a 65-watt AC power adapter, 6-cell lithium-ion battery and a pair of stereo ear bud headphones.
