- 1). Place water in the steam cleaner as directed for the particular model you are using. Set the pressure level to low. Choose the temperature level based on the condition of the coils. If the coils are fairly new and in good shape, high temperatures are acceptable. If the coils are several years old, select a lower temperature to prevent further deterioration.
- 2). Aim the spray nozzle at the HVAC coils. Apply a low-pressure burst of steam. Spray steam in a motion parallel to the fins.
- 3). Turn on the vacuum attachment if one is available on the steam cleaner model you are using. Steam and suction stubborn areas of heavy dirt.
