It's over.
Two of the worst words you could ever hear.
But is it really over? Surely there is something you could do to get back together again.
But what? If you want to get him back now, there are a few simple steps to follow.
Step One It's not impossible, but it isn't going to be easy.
Nothing ever worthwhile is.
Make sure before you get started though that this is a course of action you really want to take.
Do you truly want him back and are you in fact really in love with him? Make sure you don't want a reunion for the wrong reasons.
Revenge or simple lust is not enough of a basis for a strong and lasting relationship.
Step Two Make sure you don't appear desperate or needy.
There is nothing more unattractive and it can drive him further away.
Take control of your emotional state.
If you need to 'vent' find a family member or good friend and unleash all your pent-up emotions on them.
Make sure not to cry or beg in his presence.
No one wants to be chased or pressured into reconciling.
Don't attempt to convince his family and friends to take your side against him either.
Be the grown up.
You can make it on your own; remember you were a person before you met him.
Step Three Dump the self pity and learn to harness your feelings.
This will do wonders for your relationship, even after you're back together again.
Screaming and shouting never solved any problems, in fact they can create problems that weren't there to begin with.
Yes he hurt you and you want to make him pay.
But do you want revenge more than him back? You have to make a choice.
Step Four Keep the lines of communication with him open.
Even though he ended the relationship, it doesn't mean he won't be willing to talk to your occasionally.
And occasionally is the key word.
Don't over do it.
You will only get one shot at this so take it slow.
Be civil when you talk, keep the conversations brief and limit them to once or twice weekly.
Let him be the one to call you once in a while rather than chasing him.
Keep him guessing.
It gives him a reason to call and also worry about where you are and who you are with.
Step Five This is probably the hardest step of all and definitely the most uncomfortable.
If you really and truly want not only to get back with him, but to keep the relationship intact, you'll need to discover why it failed in the first place.
And that means looking closely at your role in the breakup.
Where you too clingy? Did you ignore him over your friends? What were the reasons he gave when he left? To get him back and to keep him, you'll need to work on improving these areas.
