- 1). Hold the planer by placing one hand on the trigger handle and the other on the front knob.
- 2). Place the front of the planer so the metal plate in the front is sitting flat, but don't let the blades touch the wood.
- 3). Press the trigger on the handle to start the tool.
- 4). Move the planer forward into the wood after the motor has reached full speed. Push the planer forward along the length of the wood.
- 5). Maintain consistent pressure on the front grips and the tool handle as the planer enters the wood.
- 6). Hold the rear handle firmly to prevent gouging the end of the wood. The front end of the planer will drop off when you reach the end and can make an uneven cut in the wood.
