- 1). Find a coaxial cable and an external TV tuner. Install the external TV tuner by plugging it into your USB port and inserting the CD that came with your TV tuner into your computer.
- 2). Exit out of any auto-play options that appear and access "My Computer" by clicking on "Start > My Computer." Find your disc under "devices with removable storage" and right-click on it. Click on "Autoplay" from the right-click menu. This will launch the installation wizard to install your external TV tuner. Follow the on-screen instructions until it asks you to restart your computer. When it does, click on "Finish" and your computer will restart.
- 3). Log back into Windows and your TV tuner will be installed. Connect your coaxial cable to the back of your DVR and the other end to your TV tuner.
- 1). Launch Windows Movie Maker by click on "Start > All Programs > Windows Movie Maker."
- 2). Click on the words "Record Video" on the left side of the Windows Movie Maker window and a new window labeled "Record" will open.
- 3). Start playing your recorded show on the TV and hit the "Record" button in the "Record" window to start transferring the video to your hard drive.
- 4). Wait for your show to finish recording (it'll be transferring the video in real time as it plays). When it is over, click on the "Stop" button in the "Record" window. The stop icon is represented by a square under the words "Digital video camera controls." When you click the "Stop" button, it'll open a window labeled "Save."
- 5). Assign your transferred recording a name and choose a spot within your hard drive for the transferred recording to save. Then click on the "Save" button. You've now transferred video from your RCA DVR 80 to your hard drive.
