- 1). Set up the speakers so the left and right channels flank the computer monitor for the best stereo sound.
- 2). Plug the cord from the left speaker into the jack on the back of the right speaker, then connect the cord from the right speaker to the Line OUT jack on the back of the computer tower or use the headphone jack on a laptop running XP.
- 3). Connect the power cord to the socket on back of the right speaker and plug the other end into an electrical outlet.
- 4). Click the Start button in the lower left-hand corner of the Windows XP screen to select Control Panel, then choose Sounds and Audio Devices.
- 5). Click on the slide control and adjust left to right to control the volume of the computer. Checking the box below the control places a speaker icon on the Taskbar in the lower right-hand corner for fast access of speaker controls.
- 6). Click the Speaker Volume Control at the bottom of the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window to adjust the volume on the left and right speakers individually.
- 7). Click the Advanced button in the Sounds and Audio Devices Properties window to adjust additional speaker controls. Click and hold the left mouse button to drag each control to the desired level.
- 8). Click once on the speaker icon in the Taskbar in the lower right-hand corner of the computer screen to mute the audio from the speakers by clicking the mouse in the small white box. Click the box again to remove the checkmark andturn off the mute function to restore audio.
- 9). Double-click the speaker icon in the Taskbar again to open a volume control window. Volume can be adjusted quickly by clicking and dragging the slide control up or down.
