- 1). Measure how far down you want the projector to hang. Cut the 1 1/2-inch PVC pipe to the appropriate length with a hacksaw.
- 2). Trace the shape of the projector on the plywood. Cut the plywood to this shape and drill holes that line up with the mounting holes on the projector. This will be the projector mounting plate.
- 3). Put the small side of a closet flange into one of the reducing bells. Drill holes in both pieces, then bolt the two pieces together. Make sure to use washers and nuts to fasten them. You can also include glue to hold these for extra support or if your projector is heavier than average. Attach the other closet flange and reducing bell in the same way.
- 4). Place each end of the pipe into the small end of one of the reducing bells. Drill holes through the reducing bells and pipe, then use bolts to hold the pieces together.
- 5). Secure the pipe to the mounting plate. Measure to make sure you are installing the pipe in the center of the mounting plate, then screw the pieces together using the pre-drilled holes in the closet flange.
- 6). Screw the projector mount into the ceiling using the pre-drilled holes in the closet flange in the same way you attached the mounting plate. Make sure that at least two of the screws are in a ceiling joist for added stability once the projector is bolted to the mount.
