- 1). Insert the charging device into the GPS unit. The outlet for the charging unit is typically a small hole located on the bottom or side of the unit.
- 2). Insert the other end of the charging device into the "cigarette lighter hole," or auxiliary charging slot, in the vehicle.
- 3). Allow the GPS unit to charge for up to four hours. Depending on the type of vehicle you own, the car may need to be started to provide power to the charging device. Most GPS units have a charging indicator light. When the light is on or blinking, it indicates the battery is charging.
- 4). Remove the GPS unit from the charger. Turn it on by pressing the "Power" button. Locate the battery indicator icon that displays bars to determine strength of charge. When the battery is full, it indicates the battery is fully charged. If the battery is not full, or missing bars, allow the battery to charge for a longer period of time.
