- 1). Purchase a transducer shield for your model of fish finder. Different manufacturers make transducers with different shapes, so it's important to get the correct one.
- 2). Mount the transducer in the shield according to the manufacturer's instructions prior to fitting the transducer to your boat. Make sure it mounts snugly, and the shield covers the front of the transducer, where impacts are likely to occur.
