- 1). Remove the existing spout and faucets from the existing wall. Remove the cover from the faucet by prying gently on it with a screwdriver. You can then unscrew the tub spout and pull it off to remove it from the wall.
- 2). Pull off the existing tub surround by using a pry bar and a hammer. Tap the end of the pry bar between the back of the tub surround panels and the wall. Pull on the pry bar to separate the tub surround panels from the wall.
- 3). Cut one of the side panels off the cardboard box that contained the tub surround with a utility knife. You will use the cardboard panel as a template.
- 4). Mark the location of the plumbing fixtures, such as the spout and faucet handles, on the cardboard with a pencil. Cut out the location of the fixtures on the cardboard with a utility knife. Place the template over the new tub surround panel and mark the location of the holes with a felt-tip marker.
- 5). Cut out holes in the tub surround panel with a hole saw attachment using the power drill. Place the power drill over the marks on the tub surround panel and drill slowly until you have cut through the panel.
- 6). Dry-fit the panels on the walls to make sure they all align and fit properly. Apply construction adhesive to the back of the panels and place them against the walls around the tub. Set the back panel into place first and then set the side panels.
- 7). Tap over the panels lightly to ensure that the construction adhesive will adhere correctly to the walls.
