- 1). Pry the casing of the Sansa Fuze apart by inserting the flat side of a pen knife blade in the seam and turning the blade to force the two halves to separate.
- 2). Disconnect the data ribbon of the screen from the circuit board by holding the ribbon where it joins the board and lifting it out of its connection.
- 3). Peel off the tape attaching the battery to the back of the Sansa Fuze case and pull it out of the back case. Be careful to keep the tape in one piece, as you will need it to install your new battery.
- 4). Pull the screen out of the Santa Fuze's case and then gently pry the circuit board out from underneath it, using your fingers only.
- 5). Place the tip of your (hot) soldering iron on one of the soldered wire ends of the battery (where it is attached to the circuit board); heat the solder till it melts and pull the wire off the circuit board. Repeat this for all three wires from the battery. As you do this, note which color wire from the battery went where on the circuit board.
- 6). Solder the wires on your new battery to the circuit board. Place the battery back in the back case and use the same tape from the old one to hold it in place. Put the circuit board back in the case and then the screen. Reconnect the data cable and close the Fuze.
