- 1). Measure the wall where you're going to put the trim, from the starting corner out to the other end. Pick a piece of wood trim longer than your measurement.
- 2). Set the trim on the miter saw, in the position it will be on the wall. Slide it so the blade is over the end that will go in the starting corner. Turn the blade 45 degrees inward, pointing toward the main span of the piece of trim. Pull the saw trigger, let the blade get up to speed, and bring the blade down through the wood.
- 3). Measure and mark from the back side of the trim (the part that will be against the wall) and put a mark at the other end, at the length of the wall. Set the trim on the saw and slide it so the mark is under the blade. Swivel the blade in the opposite direction from where it was before, so it's pointing in toward the main span of the trim. Make the cut.
- 4). Repeat the process for the second piece of trim coming off the starting corner in the other direction.
- 5). Set the two pieces of trim in place, with their mitered cuts meeting at the starting corner. It should form a tight line. Secure the trim to the wall using your trim nail gun, shooting nails along the top and bottom edges, every 10 to 12 inches.
