How Do I Use a Sidekick3?

    • 1). Charge your Sidekick's battery by first plugging the charger's small end into the phone (outlet located on the upper-right corner of your phone). Plug the bigger end of the charger into the wall. An indicator light will come on (in orange) letting you know the battery's charging. Allow the battery to fully charge for four hours. After the phone has completely charged, the lightning bolt icon will disappear from the screen of the Sidekick and you may unplug the phone.

    • 2). Insert a SIM card underneath the battery chamber by first sliding the back cover off the phone by pushing it with your thumbs. Lift the rechargeable battery out of the battery chamber. Slip the tiny SIM card into the compartment that's shaped like the SIM card. Make sure the gold receptors are face down. Replace the back cover, unless you would like to add a memory card.

    • 3). Add extra memory to your phone by inserting a Mini SD memory card into the right edge of the device (with the battery cover removed), gold contacts first. When the card is in place, replace the battery cover.

    • 4). Send text messages by pushing "Jump," which will take you to the "Jump" menu. Highlight "Text Messages," then press the trackball. Open the "Text Messages" menu by pushing the menu button. A new message will appear automatically. Press the trackball and begin composing. Type in the phone number of the person you wish to text or begin typing the person's name. If he is in your address book, his name will appear. Scroll to the message part of the text and start typing your message. When you are done writing what you want to say, push the "Send" button.

    • 5). Call someone by typing in a phone number using any of these methods: Use your speed dial settings, dial the number manually, dial using letters (like 1-800-GROCERY), or redial recently dialed numbers. To enter the number and begin your call, push "Send Call," and the call will be made. End the call by pushing "End Call."
