- 1). Shut your phone off and remove the back battery cover.
- 2). Remove the battery from the phone and notice the SIM card. This small card usually has your service provider's logo printed on it.
- 3). Remove the SIM card from your phone. The SIM card is either held in place with a clip, or underneath metal holders. If it is clipped in, un-clip the latch and the SIM card will fall out of place. If it is slid underneath holders, slip it out of place.
- 4). Connect your SIM card reader to your computer. The SIM card reader plugs into your computer's USB port.
- 5). Insert the software CD that came with your SIM card reader. This CD has software that installs all the necessary drivers for your device to work, and has a program that allows you to manage the data on your SIM card. Some SIM card readers are plug-in-play, which means all the necessary software is loaded on the device itself and you won't need to use a CD. Once you plug it in, it's ready to go.
- 6). Insert your SIM card into the SIM card reader. Each device is different, but it shouldn't be difficult to figure out how to insert the card. Consult the user's manual and remember that the card only inserts into the reader one way. If it is difficult to insert the card, don't force it. It means you're putting it in wrong. The gold chip on the SIM card goes into the device first when you insert it.
- 7). Run the program that came with your SIM card reader. This program launches as soon as you connect your device to the computer, but in case it doesn't, find it in the "Programs" folder on your computer.
- 8). Go through the data on your SIM card and choose what you would like to save. Your SIM card reader's program has an option that allows you to save selected information to anywhere you would like. Voicemails are not available because these aren't stored on the SIM card. And if your phone uses a memory card, your multimedia data (video, audio, images) are stored it.
- 9). Exit out of the program once you have saved the data you wanted to save, and remove the SIM card reader from the computer. To properly remove the device, click on the "Safely Remove Hardware" icon on the bottom right of your desktop's toolbar and select the device from the list. Once you're prompted to do so, unplug the device from your computer.

Remove the SIM card from the SIM card reader and put it into your phone. Just like when inserting it into the reader, the SIM card only fits one way in your phone. Don't force it if it's not easily going in. The gold chip on the phone touches the sensors on the phone when it is properly inserted. - 11
Replace the battery and battery cover, and turn on your phone.
