- Fujifilm's S5 Pro provides consumers with the newest image processor Fuji provides. It is a double-photodiode CCD processor that is designed to emulate the photo negative process of film: one photodiode picking up tonalities in the low light and the second photodiode picking up the high light tonalities. This gives the S5 Pro 12.3 million effective pixels and a dynamic range of 400 percent.
The D200's CCD processor has 10.2 million effective pixels and focuses on smooth color gradiations. Although it has fewer effective pixels, the D200's processor allows for it to take up to five pictures per second at the same resolution. - The S5 Pro has a range of shutter speeds from 30 seconds to 1/8000 seconds.
The D200 has a range of shutter speeds from 30 seconds to 1/8000 seconds that can be adjusted in steps of 1/3 or 1/2. Its shutter is an electronically controlled vertical-travel focal-plane. - Both the D200 and the S5 Pro provide three focus modes: single servo AF, continuous servo AF and manual. The AF system provides TTL phase detection and AF illumination. It has 11 focus areas that can be selected as groups or one at a time. In 'Wide' mode, 7 focus areas can be selected. Within these parameters there are four controls: Single Area AF, Dynamic AF, Group Dynamic AF and Dynamic AF with closest subject priority.
- Both cameras have the ability to interchange lenses. They are equipped with internal light meters, and each provides pop-up flash and clasp for additional flash if desired.
- The S5 Pro ranges in price from $1400-$2200 as of 2009.
The D200 ranges in price from $1600-$1900 as of 2009.
