Did you know that we all have photographic memories, we just have to retrieve what we know.
People who are thought of as having "good memories" have either already learned the techniques, or already innately know the memory improvement techniques.
Either way, techniques to improve memory are the same.
I will take a moment here, to discuss one of the many things that you can do right now to improve your memory.
All memory improvement techniques have to do with making associations.
It is, however, not basic word association as most people probably think.
There are different kinds of associations.
We make associations with things that we already know, such as body parts, the numbers 1-20, the furniture in your home.
We will use these items that are already in your knowledge bank to associate to something that you want to recall.
I will provide you with a very basic example of how this works.
You want to remember a shopping list;you only want three things and you do not want to waste time looking for a paper and a pen to write it down.
You are baking a pie, so you will need pie crust, cherry filling and baking soda.
There are ten items on a body list but we only need three for our example.
The top of your head, the tip of your nose, and your shoulders are the body parts that we will use.
We will use funny, emotional or creative associations to remember what goes where.
Before you leave home, you will in your imagination, put the pie cruse on the top of your head, a dusting of baking soda on your nose, and some cherry filling on your shoulders.
Before you start to think that this is ridiculous, just try to forget, look at your shoulders right now and what do you see?Remembering the top of your head is easy, now that you see pie crust on your head, we have just make that easy too.
