- 1). Measure the total height on both sides of the door frame. Transfer these measurement to the corresponding side of the door jamb by marking it with a pencil.
- 2). Line up a carpenters square on the mark you just made on one side of the jamb. Continue the line across the jamb. Repeat for the opposite side.
- 3). Tape the finished side of the jamb where the center of the line you drew on the back side of the jamb is roughly located. Make sure that the tape is completely adhered to the surface of the jamb.
- 4). Set the circular saw depth to 3/4 inch to prevent damaging the door. Slowly cut on the bottom side of the line with the circular saw. Repeat this on the opposite side as well.
- 5). Remove the remaining painters tape from the jamb and check it for splinters. The painter's tape should have minimized splintering. You should now be able to insert the door into the opening.
