This CGI animated movie centers on a supervillain named Gru voiced by Steve Carell speaking with a wacky Russian accent. Gru's mom is voiced by Julie Andrews, and he is assisted by Dr. Nefario (voice of Russell Brand). Gru's dream is to be the world's most famous supervillain, but he is upstaged when his archrival Vector (voice of Jason Segel) steals the Great Pyramid.


That's when Gru hatches a plan to steal the moon, an endeavor requiring the use of a shrink-ray gun. Along the way, Gru adopts three cute little girls from an orphanage run by Miss Hattie (voice of Kristen Wiig).
