- 1). Grasp the rear of the utility knife in your hand so that your thumb rests on the lock button.
- 2). Press your thumb firmly down on the lock button to disengage the inside pin that locks the blade in place.
- 3). Swing the blade inward towards the slot that houses the utility knife blade.
- 4). Release the lock button once the blade is close to the hand holding the knife body. Swing the blade completely into the slot until the knife is no longer exposed. Avoid any contact between your hand and the blade.
- 5). Store the blade in a dry area to prevent rust.
