- 1). Pull the dryer away from the wall so the rear panel is accessible.
- 2). Unplug the dryer from the wall outlet, then disconnect the dryer vent by loosening the clamp securing it to the dryer.
- 3). Remove the rear panel of the dryer by removing the screws securing it to the cabinet, then pulling it away.
- 4). Pull the wire off the terminal on the top of the high-limit thermostat, which is installed on one of the heating elements' terminals. Pull the high-limit thermostat off the heating element, then pull the other wire off the other heating element wire.
- 5). Remove the screws securing the heating element to the dryer, then remove and discard the old heating element.
- 6). Align the new heating element, then secure it into position using the screws that you removed earlier.
- 7). Insert the high-limit thermostat into the hole on the side of the dryer, hooking it at the top. Connect the terminal at the bottom of the high-limit thermostat to the terminal on the heating element.
- 8). Reconnect the wires to the top of the high-limit thermostat and to the heating element terminal.
- 9). Replace the rear panel of the dryer, then re-secure the dryer vent.

Plug the dryer back into the wall outlet, then push the dryer back against the wall to complete the repair.
