- 1). Turn off the power to the circuit breaker box by flipping the main breaker.
- 2). Pry out the cover of an empty slot in the box with a screwdriver. Beneath the cover is a brass pole, called the bus bar. This bar supplies electricity to all of the circuits in your home. The breakers clip to this bar, closing the circuit.
- 3). Feed the wires from the circuit into the breaker box. Attach the white (neutral) wire to the neutral bus bar that runs horizontally across the bottom of the breaker box. Attach the black (hot) wire to the circuit breaker by pushing it into the hole at the end of the breaker.
- 4). Snap the breaker into place, making sure it is fully clipped to the bus bar.
- 5). Restore power by flipping the main breaker.
