- 1). Remove the power and audio video cords from the PS2. Turn the PS2 console upside down, and lay it on a flat surface.
- 2). Pop off the plastic screw covers on the bottom of the console with the Philips screwdriver. Remove all of the eight screws by moving the screwdriver in a counterclockwise motion. Flip the PS2 console back over to its original position.
- 3). Pull off the top plastic cover from the console. Unscrew the tiny screws on top of the CD tray with the eyeglass screwdriver. The older model of the PS2 console will have plastic tabs holding the cover in place. Cut the tabs with the scissors.
- 4). Remove the plastic covering from the CD tray. Rub the yellow laser of the PS2 console with a dry cotton swab to remove dust.
- 5). Place the plastic covering back on top of the CD tray. Insert the tiny screws into the appropriate holes and tighten them with the eyeglass screwdriver. Place the plastic covering back over the PS2 console. Flip the console over. Screw the eight screws back in place with the Philips screwdriver.
- 6). Reinsert the power and audio video cords. Insert a game into the PS2 console to ensure the system has been properly cleaned.
