For many of us, fear is a recurring theme in our lives.
Fear prevents us from living our lives in as full a manner as possible.
However, if we truly trust in God, we CAN overcome those fears that hold us back.
2 Timothy 1:7: "For God hath not given us the spirit of fear; but of power, and of love, and of a sound mind.
" Overcoming a fear is not an easy process, but it can be done.
Here are three steps I've used to work through my fears: (1) Identify the fear-the very first thing to identify what the fear is.
If you have trouble, ask God to show you what the root cause of your fear is.
(2) Prayer-Praying is a means of calming your nerves.
I find that it is quite necessary for me to pray before I attempt to confront something that is causing me fear.
(3) Confront your fear head on-in most cases, avoiding your fears is not healthy-and typically at some point, you will have to face that which holds you back from living with freedom.
By using these steps,I've successfully worked through and eliminated several fears from my life-once God showed me that I COULD do certain things that I thought I couldn't, I experienced a release and a freedom that was beyond compare.
I leave you with these words from Psalm 27: 1 The LORD is my light and my salvation-- whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life-- of whom shall I be afraid? 2 When evil men advance against me to devour my flesh, when my enemies and my foes attack me, they will stumble and fall.
3 Though an army besiege me, my heart will not fear; though war break out against me, even then will I be confident.
4 One thing I ask of the LORD, this is what I seek: that I may dwell in the house of the LORD all the days of my life, to gaze upon the beauty of the LORD and to seek him in his temple.
5 For in the day of trouble he will keep me safe in his dwelling; he will hide me in the shelter of his tabernacle and set me high upon a rock.
