- 1). Unplug the power cord. Remove the screws securing the front control panel to the GE dryer cabinet. Lift the plastic trim off the top of the control panel.
- 2). Remove the two screws that are exposed on the control panel. Disconnect the electrical connectors leading to the control panel. Lift the control panel straight up to disconnect it.
- 3). Remove the screws in the corners of the front panel. Lift the front panel away from the GE dryer to remove it.
- 4). Pull the idler pulley toward the front of the dryer to loosen the belt. Slide the belt off the drum and pulleys. Lift the drum out of the dryer cabinet.
- 5). Press in the plastic release tabs on the rear of the dryer to loosen the heating element housing. Remove the four screws securing the element housing to the cabinet.
- 6). Lift the heating element away from the dryer cabinet. Remove the screws connecting the rear bearing to the housing. Lift the rear bearing housing out and set it aside.
- 7). Position the new drum-bearing housing onto the heating element housing. Install the four screws that secure it in place.
- 8). Reverse the process to reassemble the GE dryer.
