- If you still have the owner's manual for your TV, the manual will tell you if the TV is cable-ready and the number of channels the TV is cable of receiving. The channel range will be between 100 and 120 channels.
- Turn on your TV. If your television has a push-button channel selector instead of a manual channel selector, your television is cable-ready. Key in to the push-button channel selector "88" or "99" to test the TV. Your TV will tune to that channel and show snow if that channel is not available in your area.
- Press the "Menu" button on your TV or its remote control. Under the "Channel Setup" function, look for "Cable" as one of the channel set up selections. If your TV has "Cable" as a channel set up selection, your TV is cable-ready.
- Turn the TV around so the back of the device is facing you. Locate the model number/serial number sticker on the back of the TV. The sticker will also contain the date the TV was manufactured. All televisions manufactured since 1998 are cable-ready.
