- 1). Shut off the water under the bathroom sink by closing the valves on the pipes.
- 2). Take off the Kohler faucet handle. First remove the cap on the end of the handle and remove the screw under it. Or, if there is no cap, locate the screw on the handle and remove it. Use an Allen wrench to remove the screw and slide off the handle.
- 3). Take off the washer and remove the nut holding the base of the handle on the fixture with a pair of pliers or properly fitting wrench. Pull the base of the handle off.
- 4). Unscrew the escutcheon washer on top of the cartridge with the wrench or pliers. Pull the cartridge out and replace it with a new one.
- 5). Replace the escutcheon washer and tighten it. Put the handle base back on the faucet and replace the nut. Tighten it and then replace the handle and tighten the screw.
