- 1). Purchase the materials and determine where in the house the the stove will rest. Also determine where you want the stovepipe to exit the roof/side of the house. Measure around the stovepipe (around 8 inches in diameter), and then draw a circle that size on the wall or ceiling where you will be routing the stovepipe through.
- 2). Use the coping saw to cut out the hole in the inner wall/ceiling and outer wall/roof. Install the metal flashing around and in the hole, and then slide an insulation-wrapped stovepipe section through the hole and secure it with metal screws. Connect the lower stovepipe sections according to your design and the manufacturer's instructions, and then install the pipe cap on the outside piping with the included hardware.
- 3). Cut the steel drum in half using the cutting torch, and turn the lower half over so that the bottom of the drum is facing upward. Weld the top half of the drum to the bottom portion, and then use the cutting torch to cut out a hole for the door. Mount the stove door in this hole, and then cut a hole in the top back portion of the stove to route the stovepipe through. Set the stove in place, mount the stovepipe in the appropriate hole, and then load up the stove with wood.
