"The Immortals of Meluha" by Amish Tripathi - Fantasy Fiction Taken to Another Level

Brilliantly written fantasy fiction which has no parallel.
First book from the author and it will sweep you off your feet for sure.
Story is about the transformation of a simple tribal guy Shiva, also called a Barbarian by the affluent to Neelkanth (God with the blue throat) and very soon to everyone's Mahadev (Lord of the lords).
Story begins with a tribal chief deciding to move to the state of Meluha, to ensure safety of his tribe and end the unnecessary rivalry with another tribe.
As he enters the state of Meluha, he is astonished to see how well planned and perfect the state management is.
His entire tribe is given a health drink to drink before they go to bed.
They drink it only to find that all of them start falling sick.
Shiva's body reacts totally differently, where his old wounds start healing and he feels a lot healthier and to his shock and amusement his throat turns blue.
He is immediately claimed to be the saviour the state had been waiting for, the one who will fight evil and bring upon peace and prosperity to them, their Neelkanth.
Shiva is reluctant to take on such a huge responsibility, not because he is afraid of anything but he is worried that he might be playing with the faith of millions of people.
He slowly accepts the fact and decides to take on the responsibility of evil destroyer.
His life takes a wonderful turn when he sees Sati and falls head over heels in love with her.
Shiva is called upon to take the responsibility to destroy the evil and the Nagas, whom he thinks are behind the destruction of the Somras manufacturing facility and death of a new found brother like friend.
He decides to avenge his loss and destroy all the evil.
Will Shiva succeed? Is this the war against evil? Is he being manipulated and used? A book which might be a little boring or difficult to get used to in the beginning, but once you keep reading till about the place where Shiva reaches Devanagari and decides to take on the responsibility of being the evil destroyer, you would be so hooked to it, that you won't be able to put it down in the middle.
The transformation of Shiva from a common man to the Mahadev is just amazing and absolutely worth reading.
A very good fantasy fictional story about the legendary Indian God and his life and various adventures.
Definitely worth a read!!
