The Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell

The term outlier refers to phenomena or things that lie outside normal experience.
There are quite a few people in this world who are known as outliers because they have excelled above and beyond the norm.
The Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell is a 320-page book that examines the lives of some of the most successful people ever known.
More than anything, it looks at not only how successful people think and act, but their usual upbringing, and how you too can become an outlier.
When you think about people who have become successful, the first thing you focus on is the person.
You look at how they act, how they dress, the education they obtained, etc.
Everyone wants to be them, but unfortunately, their lives just didn't work out that way.
However, when you sit back and observe what is it that sets average, everyday people who work hard to earn their living from those who have excelled above and beyond? Think of someone in your life who has achieved greatness.
They're practically rich, have lots of friends, are doing something they love, and are undoubtedly very happy.
Then, look at yourself.
Where are you in life? Most likely, you're pretty miserable on the inside.
Always feeling like a failure.
For some reason, you just can't seem to get it together.
However, when you think about your friend who is rich and accomplished, what do you think about their character? You probably think that, "well, they're smart, took the time out to get an education, and just got lucky in life.
" You might also think, "they were ambitious and determined.
", but aren't you also "ambitious and determined"? The point of the book The Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell is to not only take a look at the personality characteristics of successful individuals, but also their surrounding environment.
This book was written to show you how people get to where they are.
What type of people did they surround themselves with? What were their attitudes along the way? These are just a few of the questions that are answered in this comprehensive guide to success.
The Outliers talks about the surrounding circumstances of some of the most successful individuals in history.
It brings attention to the reader that there is a certain pattern behind every successful person.
It also points out birth dates, and how they may have an effect on your success.
The type of upbringing you had (whether good or bad) can also lead you down the path of achievement.
Some of the most successful individuals had an extremely detrimental childhood but were fortunately motivated to do something with their lives.
This book talks about the people, places, and things that surround you.
It doesn't necessarily point out that you're either destined to be poor or rich.
However, the reality that you are living in can either make or break your future.
Anyone who wants to try to make something of themselves can certainly succeed with the right tools.
All in all, The Outliers by Malcolm Gladwell is entertaining, fresh, and exciting.
It unleashes a completely new point of view surrounding the accomplishments of successful business people.
One might refer to this book as "thrilling" and even a little "surprising".
After reading it, you too will gain a new prospective on the "how" and "why" behind those seemingly ambitious, determined, and lucky individuals.
