How to Watch a HAVA With VLC

    • 1). Connect the HAVA box to your network. If you are using a wireless HAVA box, insert the wireless USB dongle that came with the unit into a free USB port on the rear of the HAVA box. Otherwise, connect the box to your router using Ethernet cables as described in the "Quick Start Guide."

    • 2). Install the HAVA Software disc and follow the onscreen instructions to configure the HAVA device. The Installation Wizard configures the HAVA box to your network, audio and video and device (computer or cell phone) settings. During this process, assign a name and password for the HAVA device. Remember both or write them down for later reference.

    • 3). Open VLC by clicking the "Start" button. Click "Programs" and click on "VLC."

    • 4). Click on "File" and "Open Network." A window opens requesting the location of the streaming source.

    • 5). Click on the "Network" tab and click the "RTSP" button. Now that the option is selected, enter a URL for a streaming source. This is the HAVA device. You must specify the IP address of the HAVA here so that VLC can find the device on your network. Leave the VLC configuration window open while you retrieve the IP Address from the "Info" tab of the HAVA Setup Wizard.

    • 6). Click "Programs," "HAVA" and click on "HAVA Wizard."

    • 7). Click "Next" to step through the update settings, which is the first option presented when the HAVA Wizard opens. Next, click "Advanced" in the lower left side of the window. Enter the password you created during setup or "0000" if you neglected to assign a password (this is the default password).

    • 8). Click on the "Info" button and click on the "LAN" tab. Note the IP address of the HAVA device input it into the "URL" field of the VLC Streaming Source configuration panel. Click "OK." The IP address of the HAVA shows up in the VLC playlist.

    • 9). Double-click the HAVA IP address to view the HAVA stream.
